Nepal

Nepal's topography is marked by a dramatic diversity that ranges from the low-lying Terai plains in the south to the towering peaks of the Himalayas in the north. The Terai, at elevations as low as 194 feet (59 meters), is characterized by fertile flatlands that form the country's agricultural heartland. Ascending northward, the Hill Region features undulating hills and valleys, with elevations varying from 1,968 feet (600 meters) to about 9,843 feet (3,000 meters). This area includes the Kathmandu Valley, surrounded by hills that reach nearly 9,000 feet (2,743 meters). Farther north, the Himalayan Region encompasses a vast expanse of rugged terrain, with over 200 peaks exceeding 19,685 feet (6,000 meters) and 13 peaks surpassing 26,247 feet (8,000 meters), including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth at 29,029 feet (8,848 meters).
